Rouleau "Erlang Shen fouillant les montagnes" - Cœur de peinture 3
Think of this as a mythological action movie frozen in time. This section of the scroll captures the legendary deity Erlang Shen leading a chaotic raid against a horde of mountain demons who have been terrorizing the land. In the background, his famous white celestial hound is already on the scent, sniffing out the villains, while in the foreground, muscular monsters and armored soldiers clash in a frantic melee. Lu Zhi, a Ming Dynasty master, filled this composition with frantic energy, showing grotesque figures tumbling and fleeing in absolute terror from the divine army.
