Imagine a fever dream where religion meets a bar fight—that's Nils Dardel's 'Exekution' from 1919. A man in a crisp white suit reaches for the heavens with a cross, only to get a massive kick to the midsection from a guy in a red vest. It's pure chaos: someone is tumbling off a cliff in the background, a horse looks on, and a shadowy figure stands by watching the madness unfold. Dardel, a Swedish artist working in a Post-Impressionist style, used these wild, clashing colors to turn a violent scene into something almost cartoonish and surreal.
