Saint-Tropez','zh-CN
1895
Paul Signac didn't just paint Saint-Tropez—he practically put it on the map! After being blown off course by a storm in 1892, he fell so in love with this sunny harbor that he bought a house there and invited all his artist friends. This breezy watercolor captures the essence of the port with loose, energetic pencil lines and splashes of sunny yellow and cool blue. You can almost feel the Mediterranean breeze rustling the sails of the fishing boats as they bob in the shimmering water, showing a spontaneous side quite different from his famous tiny-dot Pointillist paintings.
