La Adoración de los Reyes Magos
1500 - 1599
Raphael painted this vibrant scene when he was just a teenager, around 19 or 20 years old! It captures the moment the Three Wise Men arrive to meet baby Jesus, but instead of a quiet, holy moment, it's bustling with activity—horses, attendants, and even a little black dog sniffing around. The crumbling ruin in the background is a classic Renaissance symbol, representing the old world making way for the new Christian era. It's a fantastic early glimpse of the master who would go on to paint the Vatican's most famous frescoes.
