Guan Yu Capturando un General, Seda con color, 200x237

Imagine a scene from a blockbuster movie, but painted on silk in the 1400s! This Ming Dynasty masterpiece by Shang Xi depicts the legendary general Guan Yu (sitting majestically in green) overseeing the capture of the defiant warrior Pang De, the muscular man being pinned down on the right. Guan Yu looks incredibly calm on his rocky throne, while his fierce bodyguard Zhou Cang stands guard with a giant blade on the left, ready for action. The painting uses vibrant mineral colors to bring the *Romance of the Three Kingdoms* legend to life with intense drama and detail. It’s currently hanging in the Palace Museum in Beijing, where its massive size—over two meters tall—makes the warriors feel larger than life.
