桃色の桃の木 by Vincent van Gogh, 1888

Vincent van Gogh captured the explosive energy of spring in Arles with this vibrant depiction of a blossoming peach tree. He dedicated this piece to his cousin-in-law, Anton Mauve, as a tribute shortly after Mauve's death, using the blooming branches to symbolize new life. The thick, swirling brushstrokes make the white and pale pink blossoms practically vibrate against the bright blue sky, showing off his signature Post-Impressionist style. It's a joyful, almost electric celebration of nature that completely breaks away from the gloomy tones of his earlier Dutch period.
