강행초설도-화심2
Zhao Gan captured the biting chill of a winter river in this 10th-century masterpiece from the Southern Tang dynasty. You can almost feel the cold as fishermen huddle in their small boats and travelers trudge through the snowy banks, their postures shrinking against the freezing wind. This handscroll is famous for an inscription by the Emperor Li Yu himself, proving it was a treasured imperial commission. It’s a rare, realistic glimpse into the lives of ordinary working people—shivering fishermen and weary travelers—painted with the same exquisite detail usually reserved for royal portraits.
