昭陵六骏图卷-画心2
Meet Quanmaogua, a legendary warhorse of Emperor Taizong of Tang, depicted here with arrows still sticking out of its neck and flank—a testament to the nine wounds it survived in battle. Painted by Zhao Lin during the Jin Dynasty, this scroll captures the horse's stoic dignity alongside poetic calligraphy praising its bravery during the pacification of Liu Heita. The original stone reliefs of these six horses were tragically sawn apart in the early 1900s, with two now residing in Philadelphia and four in Xi'an, making this painted record incredibly precious.
