一団和気図立軸-題跋
This scroll features the neat, regular script calligraphy of the Ming Dynasty Chenghua Emperor, Zhu Jianshen, serving as an inscription for his famous 'One Harmony' painting. The text retells the legendary 'Three Laughs at Tiger Stream' story, where a Buddhist monk, a Taoist scholar, and a Confucian poet laughed together after realizing they had crossed a boundary line they swore never to pass. It’s basically a 15th-century visual metaphor for political unity! The Emperor created the original image—where the three figures hug so tightly they look like a single smiling circle—right after taking the throne in 1465 to signal an end to factional fighting and a desire for harmony among his officials.
