描绘时尚巴黎与军事场景
欧仁·路易·拉米是一位法国画家、水彩画家、石版画家、插图画家和设计师。他是七月王朝和法兰西第二帝国时期巴黎时尚生活的画家，同时也创作历史画作，并为《吉尔·布拉斯》和《曼侬·莱斯科》等书籍绘制插图。 他曾在霍勒斯·韦尔内的工作室工作，随后在巴黎美术学院师从安托万-让·格罗学习，与卡米尔·罗克普兰和保罗·德拉罗什一同学习。在那里，他向理查德·帕克斯·博宁顿学习了水彩技法，后来成为法国水彩画家协会的创始成员。 拉米开始从事石版画创作，并于1819年制作了一套40幅描绘西班牙骑兵的石版画。这些作品，加上他与韦尔内合作完成的大型石版画集《1791年至1814年法国军队制服集》，帮助他建立了擅长军事题材的声誉，这种声誉也延续到了他的绘画作品中。他于1829年创作的英格兰国王查理一世被押往卡里斯布鲁克城堡囚禁时的肖像，被法国国王路易-菲利普购得，并于1848年至1969年间在法国国民议会公开展出。 今天，这幅作品与他1840年创作的《在杜伊勒里宫花园中的奥尔良公爵夫人路易丝·玛丽·阿黛拉伊德·德·波旁-潘提埃夫尔》一同收藏于卢浮宫。拉米描绘1815年1月26日美国战胜英国的新奥尔良战役场景的画作，现藏于新奥尔良卡比尔多的路易斯安那州立博物馆。他还绘制了约克镇围城战期间攻占第10号棱堡的场景。
