Franz Xaver Petter
Maestro bodegón floral Biedermeier
Franz Xaver Andreas Petter fue un artista austriaco. Petter nació en Lichtental; su padre era pintor de porcelana, y se pretendía que siguiera la misma profesión, pero Petter desarrolló un interés por la pintura al óleo. Estudió con Johann Baptist Drechsler en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Viena. Franz Xaver Petter fue uno de los artistas de bodegones más importantes del período Biedermeier en Viena. Se especializó en arreglos florales y, más tarde, en composiciones de frutas y paisajes con flores, continuando las tradiciones de representación de los bodegones florales del Siglo de Oro neerlandés. Las pinturas de Petter eran muy populares entre la nobleza austriaca. Petter se casó con Catherine Hamböck (1793-1858). Tuvieron dos hijos, Theodore, que se convirtió en artista, y Gustav, músico. Franz Xaver Petter murió en mayo de 1866 en Viena.
