Paul Véronèse
Maître du colorisme vénitien
Paolo Véronèse était un peintre italien de la Renaissance, basé à Venise, connu pour ses grandes peintures d’histoire religieuses et mythologiques, telles que Les Noces de Cana (1563) et Le Repas chez Levi (1573). Aux côtés de Titien, d’une génération plus âgée, et du Tintoret, son aîné d’une décennie, Véronèse est l’un des « grands trio qui ont dominé la peinture vénitienne du Cinquecento » et la Haute Renaissance au XVIe siècle. Reconnu comme un coloriste suprême, et après une première période marquée par le maniérisme, Paolo Véronèse a développé un style de peinture naturaliste, influencé par Titien.
