Maestro del colore veneziano
Paolo Veronese fu un pittore italiano del Rinascimento, attivo a Venezia, noto per le sue grandi tele storiche di soggetto religioso e mitologico, come Le nozze di Cana (1563) e La Cena in casa di Levi (1573). Insieme a Tiziano, di una generazione più anziano, e al Tintoretto, più vecchio di un decennio, Veronese è uno del “grande trio che dominò la pittura veneziana del Cinquecento” e il tardo Rinascimento nel XVI secolo. Noto come sommo colorista, dopo un primo periodo legato al manierismo, Paolo Veronese sviluppò uno stile pittorico naturalistico, influenzato da Tiziano.
