Samson and Delilah 2
Talk about a bad breakup! Here, the biblical strongman Samson is getting roughed up by soldiers after his lover Delilah betrayed him. She's sitting there in her fancy red dress, having just cut off the hair that gave him his superpowers, while Philistine guards swarm in to bind the now-powerless giant. It's a classic Baroque moment full of muscle, drama, and swirling fabric, painted by a very young Anthony van Dyck who was clearly taking heavy notes from his master, Peter Paul Rubens. Even the little dog in the bottom corner looks confused by the sudden violence.
