Water Lilies (Nymphéas)
Monet completely ditched the horizon line in this 1907 masterpiece, turning his beloved Giverny pond into a swirling mirror of lavender and deep blues. Instead of painting the sky above, he painted its reflection below, mixing weeping willows and pink water lilies into a dreamy, almost abstract haze. He was so obsessed with capturing fleeting light that he'd set up multiple canvases at once, frantically chasing the sun as it moved across the sky. It feels less like a traditional landscape and more like you're floating right on the surface of the water itself.
