A Still Life of Fruit on a Silver Dish with Figure, Rabbits, Parrot, and Monkey Beneath a Broken Capital and an Ornamental Urn
Step into a lush, chaotic Baroque garden where nature and luxury collide in spectacular fashion! A vibrant red macaw perches proudly atop a massive stone urn, keeping watch over a lavish spill of grapes, pomegranates, and peaches tumbling from a gleaming golden dish. Below, two fluffy rabbits nibble near the feast, while a cheeky monkey lurks in the shadows on the right, and a figure reaches for an apple near a broken architectural capital. David de Coninck masterfully blends the opulence of 17th-century still life with a lively, almost theatrical cast of characters, turning a simple fruit arrangement into a bustling, exotic menagerie.
