Brunnsmmästaren vid Medevi brunn och hans båda söner
1686
Step into a 17th-century Swedish spa party with this lively Baroque portrait by court painter David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl. The bearded man in the center is the 'Well Master' of Medevi brunn—Sweden's oldest spa—pouring a drink alongside his two sons. Instead of a stiff formal pose, Ehrenstrahl captures them in a candid moment of camaraderie, almost inviting the viewer to grab a glass and join the toast. It’s a fascinating mix of high-art portraiture and rustic genre painting, celebrating the health-giving waters of the era.
