Landscape on Paper Cover 32x21 P00
Think of this vertical scroll as the ultimate vintage 'Certificate of Authenticity' for the Ming dynasty art world. The bold, sweeping characters read 'Authentic Calligraphy and Painting of Xiangguang'—Xiangguang being the art name of Dong Qichang, the heavyweight champion of Chinese literati painting. The inscription at the bottom, 'Zisun yongbao,' translates to 'Preserved by descendants forever,' revealing the owner's intense desire to keep this treasure in the family for generations. It’s a fascinating glimpse into high-stakes art collecting, where a label like this was the ultimate seal of approval for a master's work.
