Devil Dogs of the Air
1935
Before CGI took over, movie posters had to do all the heavy lifting, and this Swedish release for the 1935 film 'Devil Dogs of the Air' is a perfect example. A massive black and orange fighter plane dives aggressively from the top, leading a squadron of blue jets while a paratrooper drifts on the right. The bold text 'HÄR KOMMER FLYGET' (Here Comes the Plane) dominates the sky, setting the stage for the stars listed below: James Cagney and Pat O'Brien. At the bottom, a stoic pilot in goggles gazes alongside a woman's profile, capturing the era's perfect blend of dangerous aviation stunts and romantic drama in pure Art Deco style.
