La rue Mouffetard et la rue du Pot-de-fer
1926
Swedish architect Ferdinand Boberg traded his blueprints for crayons to capture the gritty charm of Paris’s Rue Mouffetard in 1926. Instead of a romanticized postcard view, he gives us a towering, almost claustrophobic perspective where the massive, chimney-crowned building looms over the street like a silent giant. The warm, sepia tones and scratchy texture make the scene feel like a fading memory of one of Paris's oldest market streets, bustling with history long before the tourists arrived. It’s a fantastic example of how an architect’s eye sees structure and shadow differently than a traditional painter.
