Erminia seeking refuge with the shepherds
Imagine fleeing a brutal battlefield only to stumble into a peaceful countryside scene—that's exactly what's happening here. The warrior princess Erminia, clad in armor with a magnificent billowing red cape, rides her striking white-and-brown horse toward a group of surprised shepherds and their flock. This Baroque masterpiece illustrates a famous scene from Torquato Tasso's epic poem 'Jerusalem Delivered,' perfectly capturing the dramatic contrast between the chaos of war and the serene, rustic life of the countryside.
