Boar Hunt
Frans Snyders captures the raw, chaotic energy of a Flemish boar hunt in this dramatic Baroque scene. A massive, bristling wild boar fights for its life against a pack of snarling, spotted hounds that are biting at its legs and even clinging to its back. Snyders was famous for his incredibly lifelike animal paintings and often collaborated with Peter Paul Rubens, painting the beasts in Rubens' grand hunting scenes. The tension is palpable as you can almost hear the barking and the boar's angry grunts echoing through the wooded landscape.
