Study Sheet; Two Kittens
1891
Fritz Boehle captures the ultimate nap time in this charming 1891 sketch, featuring two fluffy kittens completely passed out in different poses. Drawn with expressive charcoal strokes and highlighted with white chalk on toned paper, the artist perfectly nails that heavy, peaceful sleep where little limbs go limp. As a German artist known for his rural and animal subjects, Boehle used studies like this to master anatomy before creating larger works. It's a sweet glimpse into his process, proving that even serious realism can be absolutely adorable.
