The Rest On The Flight Into Egypt
Imagine a divine road trip pause! In this Baroque masterpiece by Giovanni Maria Morandi, the Holy Family takes a breather during their escape to Egypt. Mary, draped in stunning royal blue, holds a curious baby Jesus while Joseph catches up on some reading nearby. Above them, a squad of chubby cherubs busily harvests cherries from the trees—referencing a popular legend where trees actually bowed down to offer their fruit to the tired travelers. Meanwhile, a couple of bunnies chill in the foreground, completely unfazed by the heavenly scene.
