The Finding of Moses
Giovanni Stefano Danedi, an Italian Baroque master also known as 'il Montalto', brings this biblical tale to life with intense emotion and drama. The painting depicts the moment Pharaoh's daughter, dressed in regal blue, discovers the infant Moses. To the left, a rugged figure holding a staff represents the River Nile, anchoring the scene to the riverbank where the baby was found. Danedi uses signature chiaroscuro lighting to spotlight the child and the kneeling woman, creating a warm, glowing focal point against the dark, mysterious background.
