Domestic cat and kitten drinking milk from a saucer
1820-1860
Gottfried Mind, affectionately known as the 'Raphael of Cats,' had an uncanny ability to capture the fluffy essence of our feline friends. In this charming 19th-century illustration, a large, patchy mother cat and her tiny, equally determined kitten share a quiet moment over a saucer of milk. The incredible detail in their fur and the gentle intimacy of the scene perfectly capture the Romantic era's fascination with the natural world. Mind was a simple man who lived in a monastery and found his greatest joy in sketching the resident cats, making this tender scene a true reflection of his life's passion.
