St. Cecilia
Legend has it that St. Cecilia sang to God in her heart while instruments played around her, and Guercino brings that story to life here. You can see her lost in the music, eyes cast down at the organ keys, with a soft halo glowing behind her head. The artist, a master of the Baroque style, uses dramatic lighting to make her golden and blue robes pop against the dark background. It’s a beautiful snapshot of divine inspiration, showing why she became the patron saint of musicians.
