Seated Female Nude with Long Loose Hair Facing Left
Klimt was basically the king of sketching, churning out over 4,000 drawings in his life, and the vast majority were of nude women. In this intimate pencil study, a model sits in profile with hair flowing down her back like a dark waterfall. While he's famous for those shiny gold paintings, these private sketches show his softer, more sensual side rooted in the Symbolist movement. Check out the bottom of the page—the legs just fade away into thin, scratchy lines because Klimt cared more about capturing the mood of the torso and face than finishing the feet.
