Pferde tränken
1949
Gustáv Mallý captures a quiet, sun-drenched moment of rural Slovak life in this vibrant 1949 scene. A man on horseback pauses while his team drinks from a trough, sharing a glance with a woman in a red headscarf who shields her eyes from the bright light. The dappled shadows and bold, expressive brushstrokes bring the heat of the day to life, showcasing Mallý's mastery of capturing everyday moments. It's a snapshot of a slower time, where the rhythm of the day was dictated by the needs of the animals.
