Costa nel Mediterraneo
Henri-Edmond Cross invites us to a sun-drenched Mediterranean garden with this vibrant landscape, likely painted near his home in Saint-Clair. Instead of blending colors on a palette, he used a technique called Divisionism, placing small, distinct strokes of pure color side-by-side to let the viewer's eye mix them. The result is a shimmering, almost mosaic-like effect where the blue sea and lush greenery seem to vibrate with light. This approach was a hallmark of the Neo-Impressionist movement, pushing the boundaries of how we perceive color and light in art.
