View Of The Nile
1924
Ivan Bilibin, famous for his bold Russian fairy tale illustrations, took his distinctive style on a journey to Egypt in the 1920s. This serene watercolor captures the Pyramids of Giza rising mistily across the Nile, framed by tall, slender palm trees. In the foreground, three figures sit quietly on the riverbank, seemingly dwarfed by the ancient landscape, offering a peaceful, almost dreamlike snapshot of a traveler's view.
