世界：善と悪
1908
Flagg, who would later become famous for the 'I Want You' Uncle Sam poster, created this striking cover for Life magazine in 1908. It depicts a cosmic tug-of-war for the planet. A sinister, red-clad devil with a long, sweeping feather leans over the globe, gripping it possessively with claw-like hands. Below, a tiny, winged cherub reaches up, representing the fragile force of good trying to reclaim the world from evil. The stark contrast between the looming demon and the small child creates a powerful visual metaphor for the eternal struggle between light and dark.
