Fruit Still Life
Jan van Huysum was a master of the Dutch Golden Age still life, making fruit look so real you'd want to take a bite. He often added little surprises like this delicate white butterfly perched on a fuzzy peach to bring the scene to life. Notice the tiny ant crawling on the fruit and the glistening water droplets on the grapes—these hyper-realistic details were his way of showing off his incredible skill. Even the leaves look like they've just been picked, with some showing signs of wilting to remind us that nature is fleeting.
