온플의 바다
1864
Johan Barthold Jongkind dashed off this breezy seascape in 1864 while visiting Honfleur, a coastal town that became a playground for future Impressionists. The loose watercolor captures a sailing vessel with dark sails and a wobbly blue reflection, looking almost like a quick snapshot of a windy day. You can see his signature and the date scrawled at the bottom, proving it was painted right there on the spot. Jongkind was actually a mentor to a young Claude Monet, teaching him to paint outdoors and capture changing light—so you're looking at the grandfather of Impressionism in action!
