De Demagoog
1946
In this chaotic scene, a screaming leader—mouth wide open in a frenzy—clutches a sword while being embraced by a grinning skeleton, likely representing Death itself. Around them, soldiers cower in fear, covering their eyes as if blind to the destruction happening right in front of them. Orozco, a giant of Mexican muralism, created this biting critique of fascism and blind obedience, showing how demagogues lead their followers straight to the grave. The swirling, dark colors and jagged lines make the whole scene feel like a political nightmare coming to life.
