Ohne Titel (Gebet)

Kazimir Malevich

1913

Ohne Titel (Gebet) by Kazimir Malevich, 1913

Before he became the father of Suprematism, Kazimir Malevich was obsessed with breaking the world apart. This 1913 drawing, titled 'Prayer' (check the scribbled text at the bottom left), takes a traditional religious subject and shatters it into a floating cloud of cubes, cylinders, and sharp planes. It’s a classic example of his Cubo-Futurist phase, where he mixed the jagged energy of Futurism with the fragmented shapes of Cubism. It looks less like a peaceful prayer and more like a mechanical blueprint, showing how Malevich was slowly stripping away reality to get to pure geometric feeling.
