아르노 홀츠
1922
Meet Arno Holz, the German poet and playwright staring back at us with intense focus through his signature monocle in this 1922 portrait by Lovis Corinth. Corinth, a giant of German Expressionism, skipped the polite, polished look and went for raw energy, using rough, scratchy strokes to capture the writer's intellectual grit. It feels less like a formal sitting and more like a quick sketch of a genius mid-argument in a smoky Berlin café.
