Storno su un ramo di magnolia
1900 - 1910
Part of the shin-hanga movement that bridged traditional ukiyo-e and modernism, Ohara Koson revitalized Japanese woodblock printing with incredibly lifelike nature scenes. Here, a sleek black myna bird with a bright yellow beak perches confidently on a magnolia branch, surrounded by large, pristine white blossoms and fuzzy brown buds. Koson was famous for his bird-and-flower prints, often spending hours observing animals in the wild to capture their exact personality. The stark contrast between the dark bird and the delicate flowers creates a perfect, serene balance.
