枝頭白尾海鵰
1900 - 1930
Master of the shin-hanga movement, Ohara Koson revived traditional Japanese woodblock prints by adding a touch of modern realism that Western audiences absolutely loved. In this striking piece, a majestic white-tailed eagle perches on a gnarled, blossoming branch, its sharp yellow beak and piercing eye contrasting beautifully with the soft, misty gray tones of its feathers. The bird looks incredibly lifelike, almost as if it's about to take flight at any moment. Koson was so famous for his bird-and-flower designs that the majority of his prints were actually exported to Europe and America, making him a huge international star in the early 20th century.
