Dialogue (Accusation)
1924
Oskar Schlemmer, a master at the famous Bauhaus school, was obsessed with turning the human body into a geometric, puppet-like form. In this 1924 work, titled 'Dialogue (Accusation)', the scene feels like a tense rehearsal for an avant-garde play. Stiff, mannequin figures in bold blocks of black and blue interact awkwardly, with mask-like faces that stare blankly. You can clearly see the pencil underdrawing beneath the watercolor wash—like the circle on the central white shape—revealing how Schlemmer constructed these mechanical humans, blending the organic with the industrial.
