柱に力を入れる二人の人物 by Peter Paul Rubens

Check out these two absolute units locked in an eternal stalemate! This engraving is based on a drawing by Baroque master Peter Paul Rubens, but was actually carved into the plate decades later by French artist Pierre Aveline. The text at the top reads 'Theorie de la Figure Humaine' (Theory of the Human Figure), revealing this is Plate 19 from an instructional book. Rubens was obsessed with how the human body moved, so he drew these figures straining against a post to show exactly how muscles bulge under extreme tension. It’s essentially a 17th-century gym brochure for art students, proving that anatomy class doesn't have to be boring.
