Improvisation 13
1910
Kandinsky's 'Improvisation 13' is a wild, chaotic explosion of color and form, painted in 1910 right as he was breaking free from representing the real world. If you look closely, you might spot vague shapes of horses, riders, and even a flood, but they're dissolving into a musical symphony of bold black outlines and vibrant patches of yellow, blue, and red. He called these works 'Improvisations' because they were spontaneous expressions of inner feelings, much like a jazz musician riffing on a melody. This piece is a perfect snapshot of the moment abstract art was born!
