Gu Hongzhong
Gu Hongzhong(顾闳中) (910–980) was from Jiangnan and was a figure painter in the Southern Tang during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. He served as a Hanlin court attendant under the last Southern Tang ruler. His brushwork was strong and rounded, with occasional square strokes for turns, and his use of color was rich and vibrant. He excelled at depicting the expressions and moods of people, and was as famous as Zhou Wenju. He even painted a portrait of the last ruler, Li Yu.
