Lying Dog
1777
Fast asleep on a cozy ledge, this fluffy spaniel looks like it hasn't got a care in the world. Dutch artist Cornelis Ploos van Amstel captured this peaceful moment in 1777, showing off his incredible skill with texture—you can almost feel the soft fur just by looking at the delicate strokes. As a famous collector himself, Ploos van Amstel knew how to appreciate the simple beauty of everyday subjects, making this sleepy pup a true masterpiece of observation.
