Jingxi Calling Forth the Recluse - Colophon 2
Think of this elegant scroll as a 400-year-old tribute written in beautiful running script. Although associated with Ming Dynasty master Dong Qichang, the text is actually a colophon by his friend Wu Zhengzhi. Wu reminisces about knowing Dong (referred to by his courtesy name 'Xuanzai') before he became famous, praising his early talent and recounting the history of the painting 'Summoning the Recluse at Jingxi'. The red seals at the bottom act as a historical chain of custody, showing that generations of collectors have cherished this piece.
