Landscape on paper 32x21 P12
Look at those sweeping, confident brushstrokes! This is calligraphy by Dong Qichang, a Ming Dynasty superstar who essentially invented the way we categorize Chinese art history today. He’s writing a poetic line about 'emerald mountain screens' and 'red rain' of apricot blossoms, which fits his reputation as a landscape master. The style is 'running script,' which looks like the writer was in a hurry but still kept it elegant. Dong was famously opinionated, creating a hierarchy of painters that put his own 'Southern School' style at the very top!
