Engel über dem Broadway
1941
Signed by artist Eric Rohman, this vibrant 1941 Swedish poster for the film *Angels Over Broadway* (titled *Änglar över Broadway*) is a stunning example of Art Deco graphic design. The names Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Thomas Mitchell, and Rita Hayworth blaze in orange text, matching the warm glow of the massive moon behind the jagged, silhouetted New York skyline. The actors' faces are nestled in star-shaped frames cascading down a deep blue night sky, creating a dramatic, noir-ish mood. It's a fascinating piece of cinema history, promoting the only film ever directed by legendary Hollywood screenwriter Ben Hecht.
