Charioteers
Delacroix was obsessed with capturing raw energy, often visiting racetracks just to study how horses moved. This frantic sketch of charioteers is a perfect example of that passion. Look at those wild, scratchy lines—he wasn't trying to make a pretty picture, but to freeze the chaotic motion of horses rearing and drivers struggling for control. It feels like a snapshot of a high-speed chase, full of adrenaline and movement typical of the Romantic movement.
