Visiting Grandfather
Step into a cozy, sunlit Italian cottage where Grandpa is clearly the star of the show! Surrounded by barefoot children hanging on his every word, the old man spins a tale while the women of the house pause their chores to listen in. Even the chickens pecking at the floor and a little boy focused on his soup seem part of this warm, chaotic family gathering. Zampighi was a master of these 'genre scenes,' capturing the simple, joyful moments of everyday rural life in the late 19th century with incredible detail and warmth.
