성 프락세디스
Saint Praxedis looks like she's just received the best news of her life, gazing upward in pure ecstasy. As a 2nd-century Roman saint, she was famous for a rather grim task: collecting the blood of Christian martyrs with a sponge. See that jug the chubby cherub is hugging on the right? That's her collection vessel! Lanfranco captures the high drama of the Baroque style here, contrasting her deep blue robes against a glowing gold background. Meanwhile, the other angels are having a moment—one looks totally bored and sleepy at the bottom, while another rests his chin on his hand, perhaps wondering when the holy vision will end.
